Fat around the belly isn’t the same as fat under the skin.  Belly fat is also known as visceral fat, and unlike the fat under the skin or subcutaneous fat, it surrounds the internal organs within the abdominal region.  Excess amounts of visceral fat makes the organs work harder.  Also, visceral fat doesn’t just sit and do nothing…  It releases harmful substances and toxins.  People with belly fat increase their likelihood of developing heart disease, diabetes, stroke and cancer.

Diet Pills Can Burn It Off…

Everyone looks for the easiest way to do something that they think is hard.  Diet pills may suppress hunger and make you feel like eating less, but it takes more than that to lose weight and burn fat.  You’ll need to control your calorie intake and make sure you are doing enough of the right type of exercises that will burn off the fat.

Sit-ups Will Remove It…

Sit-ups, crunches or any type of equipment that gives the abdominal muscles a workout appear to be a laser targeted approach for burning off belly fat.  However, those types of exercises will mostly build stronger muscles rather than reduce the fat.  The type of exercise required to burn off the fat around the mid-section must include activities such as walking, hiking or jogging.  They need to be exercises that work the cardiovascular system or exercises that raises the heart rate over a sustained period.
